Straumann Dental Implants – Designed to Last a Lifetime

Often Copied, Never Matched

There are many implant systems, but not all are equal. Most patients are not aware of the critical differences between implant systems. In the last decade, dental implants have become a standard treatment in dentistry, and various dental implant companies offer many types. But are they offering the same quality, and have these systems been clinically proven in long-term studies?

Straumann is a leading dental implant company that has earned worldwide trust, and there are many reasons why opting for a Straumann implant is an excellent choice for your oral health.

In the last decade, dental implants have become a standard treatment in dentistry, and there are many types offered by various dental implant companies. But are they offering the same quality, and have these systems been clinically proven in long-term studies? Most patients are not aware of the critical differences between implant systems. Straumann components are manufactured under consideration of internationally recognized quality standards, with high precision, and documented clinical research.

Backed by Science

Straumann has proven successful in the research, development, and manufacturing of dental implant solutions. Documented with extensive scientific literature, Straumann has delivered groundbreaking innovations and set technical benchmarks since 1954. Their scientific and technological achievements have led to numerous innovations in the fields of surface technology, high-performance implant materials, and oral regeneration.

Swiss Quality and Innovation

With Swiss engineering roots, Straumann products are well-known for quality and precision. Ground-breaking innovations, such as the SLActive® implant surface, and the high-strength Roxolid® implant material, underline Straumann’s position as one of the most innovative leaders in implant technology.

Reliability and Integrity

When it comes to the reliability of our implant solutions, Straumann sets high standards of quality and scientific integrity. Straumann products have been thoroughly tested and validated in preclinical and clinical studies. As an ethical trusted company, Straumann takes pride in providing dentists and their patients with products that work and are backed by scientific evidence for reliable and predictable treatment results.

Exceptionally Strong Materials

Human beings have a powerful bite. This force allows you to eat a variety of foods without damaging your teeth. A dental implant must be able to survive years of biting and chewing. Straumann uses strong materials to produce implants with a long lifespan. Their Roxolid implants are 15% zirconium and 85% titanium. Their ceramic implants are made from durable zirconia ceramic material. An important advantage of these powerful ingredients is that the dentist can do more with less. An implant with a smaller diameter means less of a need for bone augmentation and grafting procedures. You can have a simpler, shorter procedure with fewer follow-up appointments.

Innovative Implant Surface

A successful dental implant is one that lasts. For an extended implant life, the unit must integrate itself with the bone in your jaw. Straumann uses a series of preparative procedures to encourage bone cell attachment. To create their SLA surface, the manufacturer sandblasts the outer titanium to roughen the surface. Next, they use an acid-etching technique to introduce fine roughness. The result is an implant with many possible surfaces for connecting with bone cells. This innovation brings several benefits to the patient.

  • A shorter healing time. The SLActive implant has a healing time of three to four weeks.
  • A longer implant life. The SLA implant has a survival rate of over 99% after 10 years.
  • Less bone loss over time.
  • A minimal rate of peri-implantitis, or inflammation at the implant site.

DENTAL IMPLANTS

The BEST Permanent solution for tooth loss

Dental implants represent a common procedure of permanently replacing missing teeth without affecting neighboring teeth.

With the help of dental implants, we can fully reverse toothlessness and strongly improve chewing and speaking abilities as well as restore a beautiful smile.

Are You a Great Candidate for Dental Implants?

If you are in good general and oral health, if you have an adequate bone in your jaw that is needed to support the implant, and have healthy gum tissues that are free of periodontal disease, then there is nothing preventing you to get a Dental Implant.

What Dental Implants Can Do?

Dental Implants can replace one or more teeth without affecting bordering teeth.
They can support a dental bridge and eliminate the need for a removable partial denture.
Dental Implants can provide support for a denture, making it more secure and comfortable.

Dental Implants: Timeline and Workflow

There are different ways and timelines to place dental implants. You may find practices that place implants and crowns in one day. And that might be okay if you are in a big rush, but it can lead to a higher risk of failure. At our Dental Practice, we take the safest possible approach that will bring the most success, and that takes time. So the entire process of the implant treatment will take at least 5 months. Here is the usual timeline for implant placement at our Dental Practice:

Appointment #1

We will start with a Free Consultation with our Dentist Dr. Fidanoski. Should you agree to move forward with our proposed Dental Implant Treatment we will take an impression of your teeth, and CBCT (3D) Scan for fabrication of a surgical guide. We always place implants with surgical guides to achieve extreme accuracy in the placement of the dental implant.

Appointment #2

We can PLACE THE DENTAL IMPLANT as soon as 3 weeks after the initial exam, once we have the surgical guide fabricated. Please note that this is a placement of only the root structure of the implant, not the crown.

At the end of this appointment, we will place a healing cap on top of the implant, and then we will have to wait between 2 to 3 months, depending on the density of your bone, for the implant to integrate into the bone, and become stable.

Appointment #3

2-3 months after the implant placement, we will bring you back for evaluation of the stability of the implant:

we will complete an exam and will take one X-Ray. If the implant is stable, then we can start restoring it with a PORCELAIN/CERAMIC CROWN right away. During this appointment, we will take impressions of your mouth so the fabrication of the Implant-Supported Porcelain Crown can begin.

Appointment #4

3 weeks after the impressions, we will have the crown fabricated from the dental lab and we will get you in to attach it to your implant. That will complete the dental implant treatment.

The entire process of implant treatment takes at least 5 months.

If you have a tooth that needs to be extracted before getting an implant

If you have a tooth that needs to be extracted and the dental implant placed on that site, we will perform TOOTH EXTRACTION and BONE GRAFTING at our Dental Practice (additional charges will apply). Bone grafting is very important when planning for an implant because it keeps the bone levels enough to give great stability to the implant. Without enough bone, the implant might fail. After the tooth extraction, we will have to wait for 3 months for the bone graft to integrate before proceeding to place the implant.

Additional things to consider…

If you would like to have a temporary replacement for the missing tooth, we can fabricate a small plastic (acrylic) partial denture also known as “flipper” that you can use until we complete the implant treatment.

If you are anxious, you can have a Laughing gas (Nitrous Oxide) for the implant placement, or for any other appointment whatsoever.
